Medicare Supplement Plans
Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans will work alongside your Original Medicare coverage to help cover any out-of-pocket costs you may have.
There are ten Medigap plans available in 47 states, each with its own varying level of coverage for different out-of-pocket costs, such as deductibles or coinsurance. At Magellan Healthcare, we understand that choosing one of these plans can be tricky, but we’ll help you go through each option to determine which one provides you with the coverage you need.
If you do choose to add on a Medigap plan, keep in mind that you won’t be able to have a Medicare Advantage plan. You’ll have to choose between the two, which will depend on the type of coverage you’re ultimately looking for.

Medigap vs. Medicare Advantage
While Medigap plans are designed to supplement your Original Medicare coverage by covering out-of-pocket costs, Medicare Advantage is technically an alternative option to Original Medicare.
With Medicare Advantage, all of your benefits are bundled together. You can receive Part A hospital insurance, Part B medical insurance, and Part D prescription drug coverage all through a single plan. You can also receive coverage for additional benefits, such as dental, vision, or hearing services.
With Medicare Advantage, you may also be required to only visit healthcare providers within your plan’s network, whereas with Medigap, you can receive coverage from anywhere that accepts Medicare.
